HmSch Review-Melody An American Girl Study

Girls of American History
by Justine Gamble

This amazing multi-sensory curriculum was written by a homeschool mom of five who followed the pattern of: read it, see it, write it, and do it.

Each lesson includes a suggested schedule where there is a list of field trips and activities such as play dodge ball, tour an automobile factory, or host a girls manicure day! Of course one of my favorite games is jacks since I remember that from when I was a child in the 60's.

I love the hands-on extension activities such as plan a meal with food from the book, plant a flower garden, or make jam!
It includes vocabulary from the book as well such as manikin, choreographer, and amaryllis.

Included are some great handouts for learning the components of a fiction story like: breaking down Melody's character traits with her words, thoughts and actions.

This is a great resource for the creative soul! Tons of ideas of relative resources such as games and crafts of the 1960s and lots of book sources you can purchase or check out from the library.

This guide works much like a unit study where it gives you the skeleton and then you get the resources to use-it gives dozens of links to pertinent books on Amazon.

What a fun plethora of education resides in this book!
I highly recommend it!
